The conference "A new investment for Tourism - Employment, training and innovation for an industry that looks to the future" was held in the church of the former Hospital of the Sea at the Lido of Venice, in the presence of the Minister of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies and Tourism, Gian Marco Centinaio, of the Veneto Region Councilor for Planning, EU funds, Tourism, Foreign Trade, Federico Caner, and the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro
During the conference it was presented the recovery and conversion of the complex of the former Hospital of the Sea, an operation desired and managed at the first stages by Agenzia Sviluppo Venezia, in particular of its President Beniamino Piro.
The masterplan foresees the construction of a hotel settlement managed by the Th Resorts Group and a Club Mediterranée tourist resort, for a total of 525 rooms and a Cdp investment of 135 million euros, which is estimated to create 500 new jobs.
The intervention involves the maintenance and restructuring of a large part of the former hospital pavilions.
The architectural conformation of the complex will be respected. On the beach, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti will realize a new bathing establishment, maintaining the current naturalistic aspect with the dunes that have been created over the years. The Teatro Marinoni will also be recovered and restored, which will be available not only for guests but also for the citizens for activities and events.
